Nine is One is two kindred spirits weaving their own blanket of gothic/neoclassical/darkwave music. Their songs accompany the ghostly world of dark-themed silent movies. With the addition of some experimental music, their shows are performed as a live soundtrack to specific films.
Blix Byrd’s lyrics are a literary gallop through the ancient worlds of vampires, witches, ghosts, and the tribulations of the soul, while D-FET’s virtuosic keyboards soar in and out of her stories like angels in the architecture. They find solace in the throbbing of eight beats, unity in the danceable and the transcendent, togetherness at the edge of comfort, and love inside the throbbing horizon between balance and bedlam.
